How import duty is set
Duty is charged as a share of the CIF value based on fuel type and engine size: petrol is 5% up to 1000cc, 10% from 1000–3000cc, 20% above; diesel is 5% up to 1500cc, 10% from 1500–2500cc, 20% above; hybrid and electric are a flat 20%; pickups and commercial bodies are 5%.
The levy stack
On top of duty: 15% VAT, 2.5% NHIL and 2.5% GETFund on the duty-inclusive value, plus COVID, ECOWAS, EXIM, AU, Special Import, processing and network levies on CIF — matching real GRA Bills of Entry line by line.
Vehicle age penalty
Vehicles over 10 years old attract a further 2.5% of CIF, rising to 5% past 12 years, factored in automatically from the year you enter. Customs counts age from first registration.
